"Whenever I am stressed out or out of inspiration, I check Tim Walker's work."

Model Citizen Media provides a platform to recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.

Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. I'm very sensitive to and obsessed with the stories happening and happened in our life. The narrative could be a tiny moment just happened yesterday or a classic story that everybody knows. Photography is the medium I choose to record or recreate these narratives. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? I am very passionate for both fashion and photography. So being a fashion photographer would be ideal for me. I have been doing the freelance photography jobs for two years by now and I've always been trying to bring my style, the narratives, storytelling aspect, to every shoot. And I find myself doing better digging the narratives from the garment and the model. Every piece of garment is a story. So does everyone. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I'm a good listener. I think clients' requirements are the priority. As a photographer/art director, I'll give them my advice based on what they are looking for. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? I was kind of shy when I started the freelance job. I would network and promote myself more. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? Tim Walker. Whenever I am stressed out or out of inspiration, I check Tim Walker's work. How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? Essential. I graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and I'm glad I did. Being in a creative environment is very helpful, since people around you are able to provide professional feedbacks and you'll be able to know a lot of people from the creative circle. Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? Go out and reach out.
