"I think that creative education is just as important as any other education or even more so!"
Model Citizen Media provides a platform to recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. I have been modelling for about 2 years now. I've definitely had some ups and downs. Especially knock backs due to my height. However, I have been supported so much by my family and friends so kept at it focusing on developing my skills and enjoying myself which has given me so much more confidence. More recently I have met some amazing people, photographers and make up artists who have been not only great to work with but so supportive and encouraging. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? I tend to not have any specific goals. Instead I just focus on developing my confidence and enjoying each shoot and opportunity as they come. This way I feel I'm doing the best I can each time and get to fully enjoy all of the experiences modelling brings. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I tend to be open to advice from people. I like to listen a lot as every person I work with has different advice, experiences and knowledge. I am quite patient and easy going which all goes back to me just wanting to enjoy each and every shoot. The feedback I often receive is that I can be quite shy at times but very friendly and easy to get along with. When it comes to clients requirements I'm very flexible and open to their suggestions. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? I'd probably just tell myself to relax and enjoy myself. Aside from that I wouldn't change a thing. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? My mother is my biggest hero. She isn't just my hero though, she's my best friend. She has always been so supportive in everything I do and has guided me to be the best possible me. She has encouraged me during the hardest of times and pushes me to keep going, to never let things get me down. Thanks mum, your the best! How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? I think that creative education is just as important as any other education or even more so! They help people develop new skills they may never have thought they had, and I think some are just things everyone should learn at some point. I have taken a few in the past, during my schooling years, if I had more time now I would keep finding more to do. It's helped me a lot! Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? I'd say just relax, have fun and and if you get turned down don't let that stop you. It's such a classic saying, if you get knocked down just get back up again and brush yourself off; but for modelling it really is so true.
