"My adorable wife is my inspiration."
Model Citizen Media provides a platform to recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. My background is actually as a musician in a band touring the world and I met my wife through music. As a make-up artist she introduced me to the world of fashion photography and I havent looked back since! Our passions are now so interlinked and so are our lives so it seems we are a match made in editorial heaven. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? Ideally we want to keep experimenting with different styles of make up and photography to really establish ourselves as a recognised brand in the industry. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? As a musician I had to learn how to communicate and socialise with so many different cultures around the world so my experiences lend to who I am today. I treat my clients the same way I did our fans and followers around the world. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? I would have started doing this much earlier if I could have. However I feel with anything artistic, your heart has to be set and your mind has to be fully encompassed by your creative energy, so this is definitely the right time for me. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? My adorable wife is my inspiration. She put up with me while I toured the world playing in my band and allowing me to pursue my passion. She also introduced me to this world and does so much to help us become successful and I definitely wouldn't be doing what I do today if it wasn't for her. How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? I was initially really sceptical about fashion/editorial photography and had to go on a few courses to try and learn the craft. However the last few courses I have been on (Jake Hicks Gel Course particularly) have been so inspirational. I feel you can always learn and nobody is perfect so if you are given the chance to learn off others than why not! Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? Believe in your craft, but also nothing comes easy! Put in the hard work, and never rest on your laurels.
