"Trust your intuition when it comes to opportunities and keep pushing yourself."
Model Citizen Media provides a platform to recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. I love meeting people who think the way I do and share my ambition and vision of the world. I want to promote and share my perspective in anyway that I can because I believe that many people will find themselves within it. Currently it is through modeling but I have many other arts that allow me to pursue the same end goal. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? I have been attracted to performance of any form and have many projects regarding art, film and literature that can eventually be pathed through modeling. Modeling for me right now is helping me see myself for everything that I am and pushing me to grow from it internally as well as externally. I fell into it accidentally but have now placed my ambitions in it and putting in work. It feels really good to put effort into something and feel rewarded. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? I'm a very optimistic person as well as very motherly. When I am working those qualities often show in how attentive I am to the stylist or photographers demands and using it without loosing my own essence. I also always throw in a couple dance moves and puns around the end of a shoot when everyone starts to get tired. I try to make work enjoyable for everyone as well as productive time. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? I have no regrets. It is a learning process and every mistake takes me to the next level. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? FRIDA KAHLO! I grew up admiring her art and the resilience she showed in her life. She shared many qualities that I find in my mother and depicts the strength that can come from hardships. She symbolizes the surreal expression of life in art and the honesty and strength that can be shared within any field you go into. How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? I'm an artist in many arts and cannot imagine who I would be without it. It has shaped the course of my life and the way I react to what is thrown at me. Art education teaches the importance of imagination within "reality" and opens your mind to infinite possibilities. I'm heading into an artistic career and would not have been able to do that without my art teacher who helped me see the stability within a chaotic life. Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? Trust your intuition when it comes to opportunities and keep pushing yourself. I'm still learning myself but trust that your work is good. Also bring a cereal bar!
