"Don't see fashion as easy and futile, because it's not. If you choose fashion for you, you can be sure that you will have to work very hard."
Model Citizen Media provides a platform to recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far. I liked drawing a lot since I was little, just like the other kids liked it too. But the drawing got stronger for me when I was about 10 years old. Today I am 20 years old, I am a fashion student and illustrator. What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field? My first goal, and that seems to be closer to me, is to become a fashion illustration teacher. I want to help and guide people like me who love drawing, because that's what's happening to me. My current teacher is always willing to help me and guide me in the best way in academic life, and I also want to be able to do this for other people. The second is to continue working as freelance illustrator, to have my work recognized by more people, and be able to leave my country, since that as a freelancer I could work anywhere in the world. How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements? So far I do not have much experience with clients and jobs, but I am known as a quiet and calm person. If you had to do it over again, what would you change? I have to confess that I do not intend to work as a fashion designer. Now that I know a little better how the fashion industry works, the coming and going of people isn't a kind of environment that I enjoy. But that doesn't change the fact that I like fashion, and I'll continue to study about it. But if I had to start all over again, I don't see myself doing anything that doesn't involve design. Design fascinates me. Graphic design, interior design, design, design and more design. Who is your hero, and how have they helped you get to where you are? I think my biggest hero is my dad. Of course my mother is very important to me as well. She is always supporting me and motivating me to be better. But one of the reasons my father is my hero is that we have good conversations about the future and things like that. Sometimes he gives me answer that i don't realy want to hear, like "ok!", "cool!", or "if you want to do it, just do it." But he's always there to listen to my concerns and sometimes even bother with me. And my second heroine, is my drawing teacher. I have a big sister feeling with her because I always go to her for help or sometimes advice and she is always willing to help me and hear me. And I am very grateful for it. How important are creative education courses? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful? I study fashion, and fashion is a course that involves a lot of creativity. But creativity alone, doesn't lead anyone to the top, it is necessary to know at least the basics of what supports creativity, such as administration, marketing, etc. Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry? Don't see fashion as easy and futile, because it's not. If you choose fashion for you, you can be sure that you will have to work very hard. But even if it's difficult at first, don't give up, because you'll know a world that you probably didn't know that existed and wonderful people inside it.
