"Pray and stay close to God. Never feel like you aren't good enough."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
How did you get to where you are now in your career?
It all started when someone handed me a camera. I was really into modeling at the time, but being a photographer was always a thought in the back of my head. It was kind of like being pushed once I received my first Nikon. Like my universe was pushing me to do things that I doubted so much. Even while the closest people to me were rooting for me to fail, I'm so glad I took a chance on myself and continue to not give up.
What is your opinion on modeling education?
I believe modeling education is very important. Especially isf it's something you see yourself wanting to do as a real job. As a photographer I've come across a lot of individuals that claim the title, yet show up to sets with, "So how do you want me to pose?" Even if it's not courses, PRACTICE! Investing time and energy into yourself and the things you say you want shows just how much you truly want it.
What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero?
I feel like everyone that I have come in contact with in past year has truly, truly inspired me. Whether it be a good or bad experience, I'm thankful for every last soul because it has mad me and push me to continue to become a better me, a better photographer. Genuinely, THANK YOU. My hero? Well it's hard to just have one. My mother is my first, my second mother Shani is my second, and my angel JazzyFresh would have to be my third. Continue to rest easy Momma Shani, Continue to watch over me Jazzy.
Do you feel like you've met your goals?
Have I met them? Some. Successful? I feel like I am on the right path to it. Patience, faith, hard work and sowing back into others as I wish others would do for me. Success? I can see it.
If you had to do it over again, what would you change?
Nothing at all. I'm exactly where I'm suppose to be.
Do you have any tips?
Pray and stay close to God. Never feel like you aren't good enough. Even when people try to tell you otherwise. Always stay positive. Positive thoughts manifests into positive results. Just try it.
How do you stay inspired?
I continue to try to better myself so that one day I can try to better the world. One Picture at a time.
What photography related things do you recommend?
Don't ever think you know it all.
What's your favourite camera?
Maybe a canon AE-1. Yes, I did say it.
