"Practice, practice, practice... and push yourself past where you think is a safe line."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
How did you get to where you are now in your career?
Photography has always been something that has inspired me to be creative. I've always had jobs where helping people was the priority, military, Law Enforcement, to even being a business banker with one of the Big 4 Banks. Don't get me wrong, I loved all of those, but they all had one thing in common, I couldn't be my creative self... Then after moving to Ohio with my fiancé and new baby, we made the decision for me to become the stay at home parent... So I picked up my old Canon point and shoot digi and found out I was better than I thought! Haha! So now where here and love doing what I do more than ever!
What is your opinion on modeling education?
Although I think it is imperative to have some sort of education on the career path you choose, I have been completely self taught. I does make it a bit harder when trying to teach my young TFP models how to model! Haha
What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero?
Well, being that most of my jobs have been sales based, I'd have to say Zig Ziglar the LEGENDARY salesman was always an inspiration... but as far as a hero? I'd have to say, our men and women in law enforcement have always been hero's to me!
Do you feel like you've met your goals?
So meeting my goals, Of course not. I don't really think my goals and dreams will ever be met Haha! They are much too big, however do I feel successful? I'd have to say yes..
If you had to do it over again, what would you change?
Yes. My life has giving me a much bigger view than most because I've experienced so much. What would I change? I would have started my career in photography right out the gates...
Do you have any tips?
Practice, practice, practice... and push yourself past where you think is a safe line... Read, and learn all you can! Never be afraid to be creative.
How do you stay inspired?
My daughter Aja... I want her to grow up and be super proud of the accomplishments her father has made.
What photography related things do you recommend?
Focus on the eyes, the windows to the soul! The eyes will tell you everything you need to know!
What's your favourite camera?
Canon by far! Right now I LOVE the Rebel series...
What is your most memorable experience?
There really isn't any one time that sticks out Haha! Every time I meet for a shoot the time is fun and amazing! I don't really take myself too seriously lol.. so I'm always told how much fun a shoot was!
