Tell us about yourself. At what age did you start becoming fascinated with fashion?
I should say that I was strongly influenced by my mom since I was very young. She has always loved fashion and style. Thanks to her, I naturally started to have interest in fashion and art. I studied textile design in Korea and decided to move to Parsons in New York City to have more dynamic and exciting experience.
How did you prepare for a career in styling?
I try to observe and document what I see and think to keep me creative. Everything, I believe, starts with a great inspiration and following of deep research. I train myself to have a decent taste in lifestyle as well as fashion because fashion is not just about clothes but a story of an individual.
How do you stay updated on the current trends?
I simply go outside and walk around this city. Visiting stores and boutiques is a good way to know how people style and what they wear. Reading fashion and business newspapers and magazines are also very important.
How important is Fashion Week for you?
Fashion week is a festival not only for fashion industry but also people who appreciate art and fashion. It is a total excitement of interaction with a creative mind and passion.
What is your dream job?
It is to be an irreplaceable person in the fashion world.
What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your designing career?
As a young designer, I should be stronger to go through many different adventures ahead of me. Knowing myself and having a faith, I'll be a true designer in the future.
Name the top three things in your designing kit that are must-haves?
Nice black trouser, Superga sneakers and a canvas tote bag.
Tell us your most unforgettable experience as a designer?
I grew mould and bacteria. It was for my thesis collection inspired by mould. I felt so oddly excited when I was in a science lab.
Who is your favorite all-time designer?
Christian Dior. He created an ultimate beauty of silhouette for women's body.
