"Don't do it for the money. Do it for yourself. Do it out of passion."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
How did you get to where you are now in your career?
I got to where I am as a Photographer, because of my passion for Photography. I love what I do beyond what my heart can hold.
What do you look for in a model?
It's very important. I always tell models to do their research, practice, put themselves out there, accept great opportunities, collaborate and gain experience through action.
What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero?
I wouldn't say I have a hero, but I've been very inspired through out the years seeing a lot of great photographer's work like Zemotion, Emily Soto, Sue Bryce and Lara Jade.
Do you feel like you've met your goals?
I feel like I have met some of them and I'm successful in a certain way but I'm still alive, still growing and learning, still working on them...
If you had to do it over again, what would you change?
Nothing. Everything has been a learning experience.
Do you have any tips?
Don't do it for the money. Do it for yourself. Do it out of passion. Shoot as much as you can, the more you shoot the more you learn.
How do you stay inspired?
I try my best to stay surrounded by creative people and creative things. I'm always listening to music, looking at magazines online and print, Pinterest is like a bible sometimes, haha.
What photography related things do you recommend?
Learn the basics, from there on, just keep on clickin'.
What's your favourite camera?
What was your most interesting experience?
I met this girl once at one of my part-time jobs as a creative assistant in Manhattan, out of nowhere, this tall beautiful freckled dark skin girl walked by and my digital eye just went nuts. I offered her a session, we got together and shot around 3-5 sets... it was super awesome the fact that she wasn't signed and I got to send her photos to Boss Models NY and they signed her in because of my work with her. That's one of the stories I will always remember. Make me feel proud.
