"I learned from my Father when he worked at an old photo lab how to reveal photos."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
How did you get to where you are now in your career?
I learned from my Father when he worked at an old photo lab how to reveal photos, saw the beauty of many photos back then helping him on my spare time, I guess since then I developed a taste for Photography. Then I left it on a side for different reasons until some years ago that I purchased a digital camera, I started to remember some photos, some styles, some ideas...eventually I wanted to give it a shot and managed my way to educate myself watching work from several Photographers, tutorials in Youtube, and participating in several Facebook groups, local or not local, but in order to grow my knowledge; evetually I started taking clients and I still do some social Photography but have also tried my own stuff working with amateurs and professional models from my City. I still have much way to go, my moto is "my last photo should be better than my last one".
What do you look for in a model?
I think photographers should educate themselves on modeling matters much; it's not easy for many of them but get to know about it gives you an edge while working with models and make-up artists. I have not attended any course so far, only what I have learned or discussed in my gatherings with the local group of Photographers I coordinate.
What person has been your inspiration in life? Who is your hero?
My Father, his dedication and sacrifice to provide us with Education has meant the world to me and set the tone for my behaviour.
Do you feel like you've met your goals?
No I have not, yet.
If you had to do it over again, what would you change?
I would have not procrastinated on trying something I like.
Do you have any tips?
To try, whether they get it or not but to try, not to believe something doesn't work without having tried
How do you stay inspired?
I read about success stories daily, I also make a life out of coaching, professionally.
What photography related things do you recommend?
Read about something or watch a tutorial, then practice it until you master it, then submit this work to criticism, get the comments to improve. Then move to another one and repeat the process.
What's your favourite camera?
Currently I have a Canon 60D, I like it fine.
What was your most interesting experience?
About the interesting time while working with a model, I remember early this year I took a Training that lasted 6 hours, during that time 2 models assisted us, we were 3 Photographers (including the Instructor), during that time they changed dresses, they went from happiness to sadness to sorrow, it started under hot weather conditions, then by the evening it was chilli, they never complained, always wanted to try a bit more. I told them at the end "you guys are bad-ass Warriors", I saw them laughed and looked proud for they've done.
