"My goals as a model is to be happy, smile all the time and make something of myself."

Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.

Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?

I am a full time university student in Buxton, Derbyshire. I study Events Management and I am in my final year. I have blonde hair and blue eyes, and I am a curvy girl and I am 21 nearly 22. I drive a Fiat and love going out with friends. I am always wanting to learn something new and make myself better. I love being in front of the camera.

How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?

I will be honest and say that I have never done any modelling school or lessons. I have just taken any opportunity that was given to me. I have done two shoots and people came to me and asked me if I would take part. I would love to get into modelling because the two shoots that I have done I have loved every single minute.

What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?

I thin a great personality and being your natural self makes you "fit" to be a model. I think you need to be happy with what you are doing, and you need to have a real love for it. I have always thought that there is no point trying to be something you are not and making yourself any different from what you are, and if you are happy with the way you are then that is fine. You should love the way you are inside and out, if you want to be a model you think you are too skinny or too fat and your not like them other models then that's wrong. You should appreciate what you have got and how you look and embrace this. Once you have done that, and you have given it your all to be a model because you want to be then that's what make you fit !

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?

My goals as a model is to be happy, smile all the time and make something of myself. I see myself progressing in this field by being me, I am who I am and I will do what it takes to make it. I work hard to get what I want and if I fail or if I'm put down then it drives me to do it and want it more. I see all this facial adverts, so you have your mascara, skin products or hair products and I think to myself wow ! they look so natural and happy and that's what I want! I want to do something I love and I have applied before to other agencies and I have got through however they were looking for money and that was it! I honestly think if a agency was interested in you and wanted you for you then they will fight for it and that potential model would work with the agency to achieve the best results for themselves and the agency.

How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?

I have always worked with customers and people, and at one point I decided to take a chance that was given to me and this was being a private carer for the young and elderly. My dad did not think I would like this job opportunity but honestly, I loved it because I was making a difference to someone else's life. You know the feeling I got when I went into someone and they are the first smiling face they have seen all day and they light up, brings you happiness. Putting the kettle on for the client and taking the time to sit and speak with them will make their day and I loved making that difference to them. I am all of the above and I am confident, I love people and this is why I am studying Events Management at university. I am always dealing and talking to customers and i am strongly thinking about doing my final project on customer service.

Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?

I used to be extremely overweight and I got bullied badly. So i decided to lose all the weight, and i now currently weight 10stone 5lbs. I used to be a size 16 or 18 and i hated it, i thought i was ugly and i felt horrible. I am now a healthy size 8-10 and love the way i look and feel now . i lost all my weight through eating healthy and dog walking. I did not have the confidence to go to the gym, I would always feel like people were watching me. I eat well now however i do not see the problem with treating yourself from time to time.

What is your dream role as a model?

My dream as a model is to be on a television advert for hair, make-up or a skin product. I just want to get the message out there to other girls who have a bum and curves that it is fine to be like that and have that image. Not everyone has to be stick thin and you are beautiful the way you are! I want other girls like myself to not be afraid to eat what they want because they think they are fat! Just be yourself and be natural, smile everyday and be happy.

Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?

Yes, I would not do naked modelling, I would be happy with swimwear etc but not naked.

State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?

I am flexible, I drive so this is a big help, additionally I am in my final year so after this year I can do full time and I feel at the moment I am still learning and this will pay off in the end.
