"For me modelling is more than just posing and looking pretty - It's truly art."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognise fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world. Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them - their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?
Since I am a little girl I always loved to be in front of the camera. Throughout high school we were always asked the big question "what do you want to do when you finish school", for me this was hard to answer. I had so many different interests… a part of me wanted to become a teacher, another part of me wanted to do something with animals, another part of me wanted to be a personal trainer, and another part of me secretly wanted to be a singer. All very different things… but on the inside I always wanted to do modelling. For me modelling is more than just posing and looking pretty - It's truly art. It's a beautiful way to express the individual it self and we are all so unique.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I don't agree with the myth of so called ''modeling education", model schools or modelling courses. I think it's all about the basic talent you do have or you do not have, I believe in the experience and 'education' that comes with the model job itself. I never took an modelling course or related courses or studies, I learned from the jobs I had.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
SELFCONFIDENCE makes you 'fit' to be a model. Also being rejected from agencies can make you 'fit'. Withing getting rejected you learn how about the competition and that it is a really really taff and honest industry.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
My goals as a model is to inspire and reach people with my work. I'd really like to work with clients and agencies that I can really identify with and so I can build up my own identity and not just grow as a doll but also as a individual person.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I studied Media- and Communication, worked on television and had a couple of commercialcatalog jobs, I can tell it's a really taff but also fun business. I know that this field is related to many. many strategies and agenda-settings. It's all about making profit.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I was vegetarian for 2 years, now I am Vegan since 1 year, I feel better than ever before. I ADORE fitness and activities in general. I do Yoga almost every day and I do go to the gym 4-5 times the week.
What is your dream role as a model?
The face of Dior.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
None at all.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
I would travel all over the world. I can work full-time or part-time.
What was your favourite experience so far?
My most memorable experience as model so far, was when I had this outdoor test shoot in NY, Long Island City at the pier around 5 am in the morning. I never saw such a flawless scenery than this morning. The NYC jungle was still sleeping, when me and the team set up the shoot. The sun would rise step by step and dip New York City in the most beautiful colors I've ever seen in my life - orange, yellow, purple, blue. It was like heaven on earth :)
