"Modelling has always seemed like some un-Godly job that only rich people can get into."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognised fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world.Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them- their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?
Modelling has always seemed like some un-Godly job that only rich people can get into. I always wanted to be a model to inspire other people, but due to an abusive childhood, I thought that I wouldn't qualify as being a model. Modelling is such an interesting job - you meet amazing, creative people and it's lovely meeting people that enjoy the same thing as you do. I personally love doing quirky fashion/editorial shoots because you get to be as crazy and wild as possible and you're not judged on how perfect your face is. You're judged on the shapes you can make with your body.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I've never taken any modelling courses.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
To be comfortable enough with your body to do all kinds of crazy poses. I've never had much self esteem, but boy can I make some poses haha!
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
Goals wise? I'd like to be published, be recognised and do more paid shoots.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?
I literally know nothing about the advertising psychology! If something comes up that I'm not sure about, I ask other creatives.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I'm a patient person and so friendly! Literally anyone can message me about anything and I'll always try to help, be there for them and answer whatever they want to know. Even if it's just for a chat! I'm open to clients requirements as long as they suit my own too. I won't gain weight, change my appearance or do any fetish things just to suit somebody else. You either like my image or you don't, I'm tired of all the stereotypes these days.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I literally do no exercise whatsoever. I'm actually so unfit it's unreal! Definitely must try and start going to the gym or something!
What is your dream role as a model?
My dream role as a model has to be just somebody from a poor background being an inspiration to young people to chase after their dreams.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
No nudity, no fetishes, no dietary requirements. I'm seriously careful on who I work with, if nobody has anything good to say about somebody I tend not to work with them.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
I can travel to a certain extent, normally the client will cover the fuel. I work part time and my hours are negotiable.
Special memories on the job:
My most memorable experience so far has to be a shoot I did in Hull at Rise Hall. I was wearing the most tightest outfit known to man and I had to get inside a copper bath tub. I was falling all over the place in my heels trying to move my legs wide enough to step inside. It got to the point where the photographer literally had to pick me up and plonk me down in the bath. We were laughing that hard it took us half an hour to calm down enough to shoot!
