"Laura is very serious about what she loves to do, she is a perfectionist and continues working very hard to make her dreams come true"
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognised fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world.Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them- their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Laura comes all the way from Denmark, and has a VERY supportive mother. That's what it takes to balance your studies as a child, with a modelling career. And they're both doing so well! Please have a read of their combined interview.
Tell us about yourself.
Laura, aged 14, is a Danish experienced model. She started modeling at the age of 4 and has always loved being in front of the camera. She has done a lot of catalogs, advertising and has done a lot of runway jobs as well. Laura is also an elite gymnast and next year she will be trying to qualify for the danish national team in team gym. Laura is very serious about what she loves to do, she is a perfectionist and continues working very hard to make her dreams come true - her biggest dream is to become an adult international model, she knows how hard the competition is, but will definitely go for it if the height comes to 170+.
Laura has just shot her very first cover as a teen model for the danish youth magazine Vi Unge - might be sold in 60,000 copies, throughout Scandinavia. She has always dreamed about being their cover model and this time she got it!!!
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses?
No I haven't, I am very experienced and my clients always give me nice compliments for being professional. I walks a catwalk on high heals pretty good since she I 12, but hopefully my coming adult agency can give me some lessons.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
You should always follow your dream, what you work hard for to get, you'll make it - believe in whatever you do, believe in yourself and listen to your heart. You need to have your family behind you, it's a must, they will support you anytime and they also take good care of you all the way to the top and they will support you on the way down as well - be true to whatever you do, always be yourself and keep your personality, thats what your agency and customers love about you.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology, and photography?
I actually know quite a lot about it because my older sister aged 18, has been working as a handmodel for LEGO for 3 years and they helped our family through a lot of things during our time working with them - my agency is always being honest about everything, no matter weather its good or bad news they need to tell you - that makes the whole family feeling secure about modelling.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I always use my good manners being on a shoot or at my agency or in any connecting from people wanting my updates for a job opportunity. I am always patient - otherwise you cant work as a model - the shooting is the smallest part of the jobs, but still the most important. I'm always open for any requirements - I'm also able and willing to travel - no job is too small for me, I simply love doing it, so I'm ready at any time.
Does she eat nutritiously?
Yes every day except from Friday, which is our family night. I do elite gymnastics so its not a good thing for me eating healthy food - even at my school we only have healthy lunches, my school is an elite sports school, so we all need to eat whatever it takes to be an elite sportsman.
How do you balance your studies and modelling career?
After school I do gymnastics 8 times a week, so I actually don't have much time left for anything else, but when my agency asks me for a job request, I'm in.
What is your dream role as a model? What do your parents aspire for you?
My mum doesn't aspire for me, she supports me in whatever I do. But my dream role as a model would be coming to the States and doing some shoots with the best photographers. Also, I wouldn't mind working for Nike, Adidas, Sara, Abercrombie or doing a cover for Elle.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
Nudity is the only thing we don't accept, I am used to performing in shorts and a top either at the gym or at a job, but nudity and sexy photos is a no go.
State his/her availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours?
Laura would be able to work around the World as long as I'm with her (her mum). My advice to her being her is to work parttime if she gets the chance to do it, but finishing school and getting an education is a most for me before she can start as a full time model
As a parent, what pieces of advice could you give to the parents reading this?
Let your child be a part of this fantastic world as long as they like to do it, don't push them to do anything they don't want to themselves.
For the young model: Tell us your most memorable experience in modelling so far?
My Front Cover for the national youth magazine "Vi Unge", coming out on November 3rd.
What are your plans for Christmas Season?
No plans except from a gymnastic national competition - and spending more time with my loved family and friends.
What was the most encouraging experience you have as a parent?
Seeing my daughter succeed in whatever she choose to do - both her modelling, her gymnastics and her great personality and kindness to other people - what else is there to ask for as her mum?
What are the challenges having a son/daughter in this industry?
I think its the time you need to spend driving around, making sure she stays fit and healthy - also other people, kids and parents being jealous.
Any stories you want to tell our readers?
Laura feels very honoured to be featured in this magazine - she reads all your supporting comments on Instagram and feels very lucky to have your attention.
