"I never view things as mistakes; I take them as learning opportunities to improve."
Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognised fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world.Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them- their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.
Tell us something about yourself. What you do, passion and aspiration in life?
I am passionate about personal development and growth. I am currently a model and masters student.
Who is your inspiration in life? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is Jasmine Sanders. I love her work ethic and her humility. I stay inspired by continually setting weekly and monthly goals for myself.
What is your aspiration in life?
My aspiration in life is to be a positive influence and impact a mass amount of people positively.
We all make mistakes we wish we could take back. Tell me about a time you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I never view things as mistakes; I take them as learning opportunities to improve. In regards to modelling and working with people, a situation I would change is learning how not to make a shoot all about myself! Some photographers have a certain vision, pose or idea in mind! As a model, all I can do is help make that vision come to light. In the past, I made a shoot about me instead of learning what the photographer wanted too!
When you’re working with a large number of customers, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. How do you go about prioritising your customers’ needs?
For me, I would first make sure I was engaged with each customer and ask for assistance from other workers (if needed). I would first prioritise by the amount of time each customer waited for and pay attention to how many products interested them.
Tell me about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities.
For the past three years, I have maintained a motivational blog and motivational app, in addition to working a full-time job, modelling and furthering my education. I had to stay strategic and organised to achieve the goals I set for myself. For me, organisation is essential to productivity.
Give me an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
During a shoot, I was able to persuade a photographer to go natural for the shoot because of his vision! Instead of a makeup shoot we ended up doing a natural shoot! To me personally, natural beauty is the most beautiful!
Tell me about your proudest professional accomplishment.
My proudest professional moment was booming my first commercial!
Give me an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
As a brand enthusiast, I am big into developing your brand or creating your own business. In regards to my brand I am always expressing my creativity whether it's sharing my modelling work, or writing, or podcast! What is exciting about expressing creativity? Is the feeling that I feel when I express my creativity. (I feel the most expressive during photo shoots!) The most difficult are being consistent and open to creativity, and different expressions of creativity.
What was your most challenging encounter? How did you deal with it?
My most challenging encounter was during a shoot, I was challenged to be sexy buy smile! I am so used to serving face or having a serious facial expression, and it was difficult for me. However, I pulled it off!
What advice could you give to the people who are reading this?
I would say keep going no matter what people tell you! Do not listen to other people tell you who you should be! If the job or field you want to go in does not have any openings, create your opening and path to becoming who you want to be!
