Featured Model: Teyana Shyanne

My goals are to continue to grow and expand my portfolio. You can always progress. Having a pretty face does not cut it in this industry. You have to constantly work on a lot of different things to stay relevant. My goal is to one day become a Victoria's Secret model, so staying fit and healthy is important.

Model Citizen App is the platform where we recognised fashion models, photographers, designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, creative directors, bloggers, stylists, and labels around the world.

Every day, we feature an individual on Model Citizen Interviews. People get to know each of them- their hopes, challenges, aspirations and inspirations in life.

Today, we are featuring an amazingly beautiful woman who aspires to be more than just a model. Please read her amazing interview below, learn from it and let the world know about her by sharing this post.

Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?

Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :)

I was overweight as a child. And very insecure about it. At the age of 13, my doctor told my mum we need to change my diet. Over that summer I started eating better and exercising and lost over 50 pounds. I'm now 5'9" tall and 120 pounds in perfectly healthy. The moral of the story is don't ever feel ashamed of your body, if you're overweight you can change your eating habits, exercise and feel and be healthier, I did it and so can you. (=

How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?

If you lack confidence/shy than I say modelling courses and education are important for you. I never had to take classes or education, and I am a very big self-taught model. I would practice faces in the mirror, and my runway walk at home. So to answer the question, I think each person would need to figure out where there are strengths and weaknesses are and then decide.

What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?

There are many different types of modelling from high-fashion to commercial. You can be any height or weight. To be a model, you must have a good personality, charisma, not be shy, and not be afraid to try new things. You've got to give it all you got and not be afraid. You also have to know how to take criticism and also listen. You'll be given a lot of instructions on some photo shoots and your fashion shows, and you need to take heed to them.

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?

My goals are to continue to grow and expand my portfolio. You can always progress. Having a pretty face does not cut it in this industry. You have to constantly work on a lot of different things to stay relevant. My goal is to one day become a Victoria's Secret model, so staying fit and healthy is important.

What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?

I know a lot about it. The advertisement is very big. When you model, you are modelling a product. You have to sell that product with your looks.

How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?

I am extremely friendly. That is the number one compliment I get after photo shoots. That I am very easy to work with, I am friendly, and I do not complain. I always follow clients requirements and go above and beyond what they expect.

Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?

Yes! I have celiac disease, so I have to eat gluten-free. Eating nutritious not only keeps your body in shape but your skin clear which is very important for modelling. I do not go to the gym but exercise at home. It is just as effective. I exercise 4 to 5 days a week.

What is your dream role as a model?

My dream role is to become a Victoria's Secret model.

Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?

I do not do nudity. That is my only limitation. Otherwise, I'm very open to any modelling request.

State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours?

I am available full-time into can travel. My hours are open as well.

Tell us what is your memorable experience so far.

My most memorable experience would be when I did a photo shoot in March. It was in San Francisco and only around 50°. I did a photo shoot in (3) different bikini looks, and it was freezing. I had to get into the water. Although it was uncomfortable, I did an amazing job, and those photos got published. By looking at the pictures, you could not even tell that I was uncomfortable and probably at stage one hypothermia. It's a memorable to me because I focused on the shoot instead of letting the cold weather and water gets to me. And by doing so, I have produced amazing photos that got published.
