"I love the way a model uses his body as an instrument and how the model can impact another's mind with the right body language."
Eli is a 20 year old law student from Mexico, and he wants to trade in his law degree for a career in modelling. He has transformed his body in the space of just a couple of years, and is clearly very ambitious and hard working. Eli opens up to us about why he wants to be an international model in his interview. Please have a read and let us know if you think Eli should be our November magazine cover!
What fascinates you about modelling?
I love the way a model uses his body as an instrument and how the model can impact another's mind with the right body language. Also, it is so impressive for me how the model has to think in every second but not show it to the camera or to the clients.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
It is fairly important for the model to take modeling courses and keep learning new techniques all the time to be ready for what the industry demands. Yes, I attended one modeling course last year in Mexico and I went to a talent showcase this January in L.A.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
The body is an important thing to fit as a model, but attitude is everything. If a model has one of the best bodies but does not have a great attitude, he or she is not going to make a relation, a match, with the client because maybe what the model is projecting is not what the client needs.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
One of my goals as a model is the represent well my agency and together make a change the way society judges the fashion industry. I would love to be on the cover of magazines like Vouge or walk in fashion shows in Milan, L.A, NYC as well.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I do not consider myself as an introverted person, I am most of the time an open person, who can listen patiently what the other person is requesting for. For me communication is a very important skill because it is the only way that we have to create amazing things.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I am going to the Gym 5 days per week for around one hour with my personal trainer who helps me to train and eat better. I really enjoy being at the gym or swimming in the pool as a cardio session.
What is your dream role as a model?
Jon Kortajarena is one of my role-models.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
I do not have any special limitations, but I like to understand really well the request and think if it is a good project to myself in that moment and in the future.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
I am living in Mexico at the moment, because I am studying at university here but If I planed everything with anticipation I can travel to any destination.
