Tell us something interesting about you, something inspiring. Don't be shy. :)
Since I grew up watching my dad working as a producer, I have always dreamed of a life as an actress. To achieve my dream, I’m working as an actress in dramas, movies, plays and advertisements and also as a model. I was chosen as the youngest among the 200 competitors in an open audition for the nation’s No.1 Play called “Rooftop Room Cat”. I won in the beauty contest, ‘Miss Green Korea’ and ‘Miss Globe International Korea’. And I participated as a Korean representative and won the group-photo award in Marykay Dream Beautiful Korea TOP5 & Marykay Dream Beautiful Asia Pacific. I am appearing in Korean and Korean Chinese collaborated dramas and films. Tasting and cooking of the world cuisine, learning Chinese, playing the drum and violin, skating and traveling alone are the things I love the most. I am constantly challenging and passionately trying the things I can show my charms in and what I want to explore myself to.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I’ve never received professional modeling lessons however, in 2014, I had model walking and pose lessons during the process of my participation in Cosmetic Model Contest of Asia. My older sister who is a model taught me great walks and poses. But I think ‘Liberal sense and Self-confidence’ are more significant to a model than education so I practice the basics on the stage while I make my own walking and posing styles.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
I believe that the most important factors are creative ideas and confidene to models. Many models are tall, have beautiful bodies and pretty faces but ‘creative idea’ is what makes a model stand out and improve. I strongly believe, with endless efforts and stage-enjoying spirits, one can become a great model.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
I have two goals. The first one is to convey a “positive energy” to everyone who sees me. And the second is to be “Muse” with inspiration. To do that, I think I should have imaginative and creative mind, constant effort and my own unigue charm which can give someone a thrill and I’m doing my best.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?
They give positive influences in doing creative work and searching for attractive models in various fields. And I want to be a part of it.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I’m very outgoing and sociable. My nickname is “Vitamin” and people sometimes call me a battery charger “Xiaomi”. Becuase I give people positive energy. And I respond to client’s requirements quickly and frequently.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
“I’m what I eat” is my motto of food. I consider the food I usually eat makes my today, tomorrow and the future, so I try to eat healthy and nutritious food. I also prefer my own cooking. I mainly eat well-balanced food with low sodium and preferably not to eat junk food. To stay in shape for mind and body, I exercise. I do weight lifting 3 or 4 times a week and often take a walk, meditating and listening to music. Besides working out, I swim, stretch and body structure fitness.
What is your dream role as a model?
I want to be an active model who keeps trying and challenging in various fields. I have particular interest in fashion, beauty and advertisement and I want to give it a shot with various and creative approaches. Moreover, I want to be a model who can’t be forgotten, once seen.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
I’m not comfortable with two much exposure as of yet.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?
I think my work is like traveling. Time and place are not any of my concerns, as long as they are related with my work.
What was your most memorable experience in your modelling career so far?
I was nominated as a Korean representative in a contest for Asian models held by Marykay Dream Beautiful in 2014, And there were 372,700 applicants. This led me to participate in Asia Pacific Competition with 4 day 3 night camp training in Hong Kong and I made it to the final. Every time my name “Hyewon Kim from Korea!” was called I felt a shiver go down my spine. I’ll never forget the moment when I started my walking before so many audiences and reporters from different countries, and that was the moment of my life which will be forever remembered.
