Featured Model: Łukasz Pietraszkiewicz

"If someone had told me 15 years ago I will be in one of the most well-known modelling competitions, I would have never believed it. I never believed in myself. Through modelling I can fully express myself, I can be who I really am. There is no room for cheating or pretending. Modelling is all I am. I am fully devoted to this."

If you're wondering where you've seen this face before, Lukasz Pietraszzkiewicz was the winner of Top Model UK 2016 !!! Congratulations Lukasz! We love your philosophy, and especially his response when we asked what he thinks it takes to be "fit" to be a model:

The market is so different nowadays that to be honest, you must be in right place at the right time. Different needs for different jobs. Fit means diversity, bring something what others don't have. To be able play requested role and become someone or something the client wants you to be without hesitation.

We couldn't agree more! There are no "standard" features that decide whether you should be a model. Art is in the eye of the beholder, and clients are looking for something different. We had such a long and insightful interview with Lukasz and couldn't wait to share it with you!

We would love to hear more about your time on Top Model UK! What was the show about?

Top Model was one of the best experiences ever. I had time of my life just being there. Even though it was tough competition we all tried to be fair to each other. We were dressed by known designers and jugged by the professionals. There were hundreds of people looking after us and involved in the show. I still can remember the rush and excitement. I would do it all over again.

How did it change your life?

It did a lot. I had so many offers lined up and interviews. I am more recognisable for the public.

What’s a public vote winner?

It was chosen by public. Whoever got the most votes and the highest amount of money raised for the charity Children with Cancer, this person was announced winner. I was shocked when heard my name called. I am Polish, but won over British hearts.

Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?

Since I remember I was a little poser. I believe in the fairytale. Though if someone had told me 15 years ago I will be in one of the most well-known modelling competitions, I would never have believed it. I never believed in myself. Through modelling I can fully express myself, I can be who I really am. There is no room for cheating or pretending. Modelling is all I am. I am fully devoted to this.

How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?

It is very important. Competition is so high that for the starters is nearly impossible to get through. When I was in the competition we had coaching days where we learnt how to walk, pose and how to behave, etc. It was a challenging but unforgettable experience. Hard work always pays off though.

What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?

The market is so different nowadays that to be honest, you must be in right place at the right time. Different needs for different jobs. Fit means diversity, bring something what others don't have. To be able play requested role and become someone or something the client wants you to be without hesitation.

What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?

My dream was to be in the competition. I made it through. Of course it's not enough. Once I tasted an apple I wanted to eat it whole. I would love to work for the biggest icons in the industry. Be the face of CK.

What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?

Mostly, social media are our agents at the moment - what on one hand makes it easier to get recognized, on the other makes competition tougher. Most important is not to give up on anything! I wouldn't also advise to upload many photos at once but one by one, to get people or potential agents wanting more and more. Piece by piece, and then hit the top.

How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?

My advantage is my personality. I am very patient and friendly. When I see people taking advantage of it I can also bite. My client is my boss, so I do what they say. Nothing is impossible any more.

Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?

Yes, I am very health conscious. Seeds are my best friends. Ever since I started going to the gym, it has become a part of my life too. I also do exercise at home after long day at work. It makes me feel alive.

What is your dream role as a model?

My dream is to be an icon like Anja Rubik. I would be able to do more good on this planet. As a role model I could bring something new be able to explore the world.

Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?

Modelling is a kind of job and like any other jobs, there are things we don't like doing but we still do whether we like or not. In this case is always pleasure. This is an art for me and when it comes to the art I am pretty much open to anything. I have one say my own motto: it’s better to regret something we done than regret something we never did.

State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part time? Any hours?

My passion is traveling around the world. Any professional work would suit me.

Tell us what's your memorable experience so far.

Walking down the runway during the finals of TM feeling energy from the crowd is something unforgettable, and unconditionally something I will never forget.
