"My advice would be to allow your child to enjoy the experience with no pressure, and let them be themselves."
How cute is Ethan!!! The photo of him wearing a beanie, hiding one eye, captures the heart of anyone looking at him. And he has had a series of great modelling photo shoots, with wide and varied clients. His mother has given some great insights into what it is like to be the mother of a young, aspiring model. We love any opportunity to promote Australian home-grown talent, and Ethan shows so much potential. Aussies know how down-to-earth this guy is, when they see his modelling for K-Mart and local fashion brands on his Instagram - @ethan.n21. If you think Ethan deserves to be the People's Choice winner, make sure you share this interview!
Tell us about yourself and your son: Why does he want to work as a model?
I regularly watch Australia's Next Top Model and Ethan was around 3 years old when he started watching it with me. Ethan showed an interest and that interest remained until Ethan was 7 years old. I decided to take Ethan to an agent and he has been working ever since and still enjoys it.
How important is modelling education: Has your son attended modelling courses?
Ethan hasn't done any modelling courses.
What do you think makes your son “fit” to be a model?
Ethan has a great personality. He is not shy and is outgoing. He gets along well with other models and he is very grounded.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?
Yes it's acknowledged. Advertising is a requirement to sell products and Ethan treats any modelling assignment as a job and understands his role in selling what he models.
How does your son communicate with people? Is he patient?
Ethan listens, responds and follows directions. Ethan is always friendly and accommodating.
Does your son eat nutritiously?
Ethan has a balanced diet and enjoys an indulgence now and again. Rules apply to ensure studies are not neglected.
What is your son's dream role as a model?
Ethan has no pressure put on him, and he doesn't have a role model that he aspires to be at the moment. He is enjoying the opportunities he is given.
Does your son have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
Yes, age appropriate, and Ethan decides to some extent what role he is happy to do.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours?
Yes, any modelling assignments are fully assessed and discussed with Ethan prior to any commitment. Ethan is available to work interstate.
What advice do you have for other parents of aspiring models?
My advice would be to allow your child to enjoy the experience with no pressure, and let them be themselves.
What was your son's most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience is when I did a TV commercial for 'popped crispsies' chips. We got to eat lots of chips and it was so much fun.
