"Professionalism is something you pick up rather quickly if you plan on going anywhere. Pride and ego can get you blacklisted fast!"
Chris does a bit of everything - acting, hosting, modelling and photographing! And instead of finding it a hindrance to juggle so many jobs, he says each job helps him with another. For example, being on the other side as a photographer helps him to understand what the photographer is after while he is modelling. His career has taken him to Singapore, where he is enjoying the festivities of Asia.
We think Chris has great style and has learnt a lot from his various roles in the fashion industry. We definitely think his interview is worth a read!
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?
I'm already an actor and have done a couple of small modeling gigs previously. I would like to expand my experience and exposure as a model to go along with my acting career.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
Modeling education can be good for a foundation on what is being done and why, but as with acting, a lot of it is just being natural and yourself. I haven't taken any specific modeling courses, my experience and learning has come from observing and on-the-job training.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
I think it takes confidence more than anything else as that can be seen through the photos taken. Being in shape seems to also be what the market leans towards.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
My goals would include being accepted into the industry for who I am and what I can bring to the table. Every project requires it's own specific look and feel and I think I can be a part of this riding in tandem with my acting career.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?
I've been in TV, web and print ads as an actor and I'm also a photographer on the side. I know how shoots work and why they produce what they produce in order to see a product/service.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I've lived and worked in Hollywood for 8 years and currently 6 years in the industry in Singapore. Professionalism is something you pick up rather quickly if you plan on going anywhere. Pride and ego can get you blacklisted fast!
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I love food, but I know that I need to watch what I eat as best I can. Depending on my schedule, I go to the gym at least 4 times a week.
What is your dream role as a model?
My dream role as a model would be to land an international campaign for a product. I'm really interested in travel and adventures, if it was related to that, then that would be amazing!
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
In regards to limitations, I steer clear of things that aren't done in a tasteful manner or are unprofessional.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours?
At the moment, I'm quite flexible and willing to be flown internationally for shoots.
Tell us what's your memorable experience so far.
My most memorable experience as a model would be the shoot I did for Sony earphones where it looked like I was running. The whole process of getting the shot was really interesting when comparing to the final image. It also helped that I had a great time with the crew that day!
