"I'm a model with character that you can't hide..."
Julija is a 20 year old architecture student in Dusseldorf, but her passion is modelling. One look at her Instagram feed shows how much she loves modelling, as well as travelling! She's been all around Europe, and somehow manages to stay on top of her studies. Her hair makes her a stand-out in the business, but like every model, Julija notes in her interview that sometimes, she is just not the "type" that people are looking for. We find it sad when an aspiring model is demotivated by hearing that they are not the "type" - but "type" is subjective. Every client has a picture in their mind about what they are looking for, and the fact that you don't match that picture is completely out of your control. Chances are though, you are the "type" that another client is looking for, that matches their campaign perfectly. Please read our interview with the lovely Julija.
Tell us about yourself: Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in modelling as a career?
I want to work as a model because I am not a basic model. I'm a model with character that you can't hide.
How important is modelling education: Have you attended modelling courses? What related courses or studies have you taken?
I am now in 3 model agencies in Germany and I'm always trying to show more agencies photos of me but most are not searching for "my type". But I have had some good jobs in a video advertisement, a workshop job by one of the greatest photographers in Germany (Felix Rochor), and I have been featured in a catalogue.
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
You should have a strong personality, be versatile, speak different languages, love to travel and meet new people and take your health seriously.
What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progressing in this field?
My goal is that I can show other girls who where very shy like me during their childhood that they can change and can become stronger. I also want to show that you can be popular without showing too much skin.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology and photography?
I have already had some jobs in this area.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
All the people I've worked with are telling that I am straightforward, likable and friendly.
Do you eat nutritiously? How often do you exercise or go to the gym?
I am playing tennis, dance ballet and go 3 times in a week to the gym.
What is your dream role as a model?
To walk on the catwalk for the best designers.
Do you have any limitations? How do you define your boundaries when choosing to accept a modelling request?
I want to make new experiences but I'll never want to be seen naked or half naked.
State your availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours?
I love to travel and I am traveling a lot. I am also a student and have to study for 2 more years.
Tell us what's your memorable experience so far.
Every experience is memorable.
